GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — An Atlanta radio show host is coming to Green Bay in an effort to reinstate former superintendent Dr. Claude Tiller Jr.
It was on Dr. Adrienne’s show where Tiller made comments about the Green Bay Area School District and the community that landed him on paid administrative leave and then his resignation.
The community meeting will be Saturday, Feb. 24 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at 1265 Cass Street.
The meeting is organized by We All Rise: African American Resource Center, Casa ALBA Melanie and COMSA.
There is also a Change.org petition started.
Tiller was trying to recruit teachers from historically black colleges in Atlanta on Feb. 6 when he spoke for more than 90 minutes on WAOK radio. The segment was titled “Navigating Educational Leadership: Insights from the First Black Superintendent of Green Bay Schools.”
In a statement on his resignation, Tiller says when he arrived to Green Bay he was “immediately embraced by the warmth and strong sense of belonging that defines this community.”
Tiller called the decision to step down an extremely difficult one.
