The Milwaukee Brewers haven’t confirmed the deal yet but reports have them bringing back veteran pitcher Brandon Woodruff on a two year contract. Financial terms haven’t been disclosed. Woodruff has been one of the mainstays of Milwaukee’s pitching staff for years and the 31 year old was in top form down the stretch last season until he suffered another shoulder injury. It required surgery on October 13 and the rehabilitation is expected to take most, if not all of the 2024 season. The Brewers let Woodruff’s contract expire at the end of the year. Even though he won’t be able to take the mound, the team hopes he can be a mentor to what will be a much younger pitching staff with Corbin Burnes traded to Baltimore and veterans Adrian Houser and Eric Lauer let go. The Brewers have their first full squad workout of Spring Training on Tuesday and they’ll open the Cactus League on Saturday against the San Diego Padres.
