MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — A challenger for U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin of Wisconsin.
Republican businessman Eric Hovde will officially enter the Senate race next week, an advisor to his campaign confirmed to media outlets on Thursday.
Assuming no other Republicans get in the race, this would pit the veteran incumbent who’s also served in the U.S. House and the Wisconsin Legislature against the multi millionaire businessman whose holdings include a Madison-based real estate firm and several California-based banking companies.
In 2012, Hovde lost the Republican U.S. Senate primary to former Governor Tommy Thompson, who went on to lose the general election to Baldwin.
