MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — An effort to reduce drunk driving in Wisconsin.
State Senator Chris Larson is proposing a requirement for all drivers convicted of OWI to get alcohol-detecting ignition interlock devices installed in their vehicles. That’s currently required only in some circumstances.
It’s the seventh time the Milwaukee Democrat has introduced legislation to do that.
Larson’s bill would include those convicted of first offense OWI, which remains a misdemeanor in Wisconsin.
He was joined at a Thursday press conference by representatives of the Milwaukee Fire Department and Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
