FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A woman’s death in Fond du Lac is considered a homicide, police said Thursday.
Ashley Ann Calo, 33, was found “slumped over an unresponsive” after a crash Tuesday evening in the area of W. Follett and N. Main streets. She was taken to the hospital, where she died.
A 3-year-old child was also in the vehicle and was uninjured.
Police are recommending Annaka Winter Trudell be charged with first-degree reckless homicide in the case. She was arrested Wednesday in West Bend. No formal charges have been filed, and police did not explain how she was connected to Calo’s death. The Fond du Lac County District Attorney’s Office says Trudell is not expected to appear in court Thursday.
A 21-year-old man, whom police did not identify, was also jailed for harboring or aiding a felon.
Police credited community members and social media followers with helping track down Trudell.
An autopsy was scheduled for Thursday, which officials hoped would shed more light on the exact cause and manner of Calo’s death.
