They stand alone. The Green Bay Phoenix took over sole possession of first place in the Horizon League with a thrilling 81-76 overtime victory on the road at Robert Morris Thursday night. Noah Reynolds continued his dominant play with a game high 32 points. Preston Ruedinger added 16. The Phoenix played from in front nearly all the way and after the game was square at 65 after regulation, GB got a couple of quick buckets to start overtime and fended off the Colonials by hitting 7 of 8 free throws down the stretch. On the night, Green Bay was 29 of 35 from the line. The win assures Head Coach Sundance Wicks a winning season in his first year as GB improves to 16-9. Better yet, the team that won only three games all year a season ago, moves to 11-3 in the Horizon League race, good for a one game lead over both Oakland and Youngstown State. On an overtime night in the conference, Northern Kentucky handed Oakland it’s 4th conference loss, 99-89 in overtime while Youngstown State picked up it’s 10th Horizon victory beating Milwaukee 97-85 in OT. The Phoenix visit Youngstown State on Saturday in a big game for the Horizon’s top spot.
