GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — The Seed Library at the Brown County Central Library in Green Bay is gearing up for its second season.
The Brown County Seed Library is a collection of seeds, primarily edible plants, that are suited for success in the Northeastern Wisconsin growing region. These seeds are available free of charge to anyone interested in planting vegetables, fruits, and pollinator-friendly plants.
Volunteers have been putting seed packets together for weeks now in preparation for this season’s launch on March 2.
“Many of them are master gardeners, and they select which seeds we will offer for the coming season,” said Sandy Kallunki, Central Library Manager. “Then we write grants and get donations to purchase those.”
The launch on March 2 at the Brown County Central Library in Green Bay includes booths with multiple activities for kids and adults, educational opportunities, speakers, and a community seed swap. The launch will go from 12 p.m. – 3 p.m.
Last season, over 15,000 seed packets were given away.
