WAUKESHA COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — Vice President Kamala Harris was in Waukesha County on Monday for the 51st anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade abortion ruling.
Wisconsin Lieutenant Governor Sarah Rodriguez noted the Harris stop came as Republicans in the Legislature act on the issue of abortion.
“They are proposing another abortion ban here in Wisconsin,” said Rodriguez. “They aren’t listening to us. They aren’t listening to what Wisconsinites want.”
Harris said abortion access is at risk around the nation.
“Today in America, one in three women of reproductive age live in a state with an abortion ban. One in three,” said Harris.
The Vice President also went after former President Trump for his role in overturning Roe v Wade.
“And it is a decision he brags about. A couple of weeks ago he said that for years quote, ‘they were trying to get Roe v Wade terminated.’ But he said quote, ‘I did it and I’m proud to have done it, too.’” said Harris.
Also on Monday, the Biden Administration announced efforts to expand contraception access through the Affordable Care Act.
