GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Three people have been sentenced for their roles in a fight at a funeral home which involved about 30 people.
The June 1 incident occurred at Blaney Funeral home.
According to court records:
- Brandon Harris was convicted of resisting an officer and disorderly conduct. He was placed on probation for a year and ordered to perform 50 hours of community service.
- Exzavion Shepard was convicted of disorderly conduct but can have the charge expunged from his record if he follows certain conditions.
- Anthony Stokes was convicted of disorderly conduct. He was sentenced to 60 days in jail.
According to a witness, one man — later identified as Stokes — “originally been sitting in the funeral service and started yelling things like ‘that’s a lie’ and ‘that’s not true’ and something ‘about the devil.’ Since he was disrupting the service, he was asked to leave. His friend who was with him then led him out of the service. However, as he was leaving, he was yelling the whole time,” the complaint states.
According to another witness, Stokes was yelling over the preacher. “At one point, someone grabbed (Stokes) and began pushing him outside. Several younger kids in the funeral began pushing him outside at this point and were yelling at him to leave. The fight began spreading outside of the front door, and he felt someone punch him in the back of the head. When he turned to see who it was, he said chaos broke out and everyone in the funeral home began fighting outside,” the complaint states.
A different witness said the man who started the disturbance showed up to the funeral drunk, according to the complaint.
