KIMBERLY, WI (WTAQ) — Child Care Resource and Referral in Kimberly is partnering with Funds2Orgs to collect shoes.
Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R) has a goal to collect 4 thousand pairs of shoes before September 18.
“We have about 1,500 right now,” said Sally Beining with CCR&R. “We have many collection boxes out in the community; some of them are in childcare centers, and some are in neighborhoods.”
Donated shoes must be clean, have no holes or broken heals, and come in pairs. Shoes from all sizes and seasons are acceptable.
Funds2Orgs pays CCR&R for the shoes, then distributes them to underprivileged countries.
“They sell them to underprivileged countries, and they use the shoes to set up small shoe stores so they can support their families,” said Beining.
CCR&R uses the money Funds2Orgs for their Child Care Provider Training Scholarship Fund.
CCR&R is hosing a drive-thru shoe collection event on Saturday from 9-11 a.m. at their office at 1001 W Kennedy Ave, Kimberly. Donators drive up and a volunteer will take the shoes from the vehicle.
