(Neenah-Menasha Fire Rescue)
MENASHA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Two people have been displaced following a duplex fire.
Neenah-Menasha Fire Rescue responded to the 700 block of First Street just before 5:30 Thursday evening.
Upon arrival, smoke and flames were coming from the second floor of the structure.
A search was conducted of both levels for any occupants. The residents from both units were eventually accounted for and no one was inside the duplex at the time of the fire.
There were no working smoke detectors in either of the residences and the home was not equipped with a fire sprinkler system.
No civilians or fire service personnel was injured.
The fire damage is estimate at $220,000.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
NMFR was assisted on scene by Menasha Police Department and Gold Cross Ambulance.
NMFR would like to remind residents that smoke alarms are a key part of a home fire escape plan. They recommend testing all smoke alarms at least once a month.
