GREENVILLE, WI (WTAQ) — On Tuesday, August 1 the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting the annual National Night Out event at the Greenville Community Park from 4:30 – 7 p.m.
National Night Out seeks to enhance the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement by bringing them together under positive circumstances.
This event is a joint effort between the Sheriff’s Office, Greenville Fire/EMS, and the greater Greenville community. Several different groups will present and give live demonstrations.
“Everyone likes seeing Theda Star land, and kids get excited trying out the fire hoses,” said Lt. Nathan Borman with the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office. “Everybody likes to check out some of our SWAT gear and talk to the officers that are on the SWAT team.”
The Theda Star landing will happen at Greenville Community Park at 6 p.m.
Other participating groups include:
- Victim crisis responders
- Greenville Public Works
- Gold Cross Ambulance
- Outagamie County K9 Unit
- Greenville Fire/EMS
- Boat Patrol
- Bomb Squad
- CERT
- SWAT
While the event certainly brings an educational aspect in learning about different law enforcement and public safety organizations, Borman says it helps foster a sense of community between the public and law enforcement.
“Often times we have people asking about what problems we see in the community, and what kind of issues we’re trying to fix, but they also have a chance to tell us what their concerns are,” said Borman.
The Outagamie County National Night Out is one of the largest National Night Out events in our area; with typically between 600-900 people attending.
