After a sweet sweep in Cincinnati which vaulted the Brewers back atop the NL Central, Milwaukee got cooled off by the Philadelphia Phillies 4-3 to open a three game series at Citizens Bank Ballpark Tuesday night. Julio Teheran started for the Brewers and was greeted by Kyle Schwarber who hit the first pitch thrown for a solo home run in the bottom of the first. Philadelphia would add single runs for a 3-0 lead before Milwaukee got on the board with a pair in the 5th. Andruw Monasterio delivered an RBI double and he came home on a Brice Turang single to make it a 3-2 game. Bryson Stott would make it 4-2 with an RBI single in the 5th off Trevor McGill. The run was charged to Teheran who lasted four and two thirds innings, giving up all 4 runs on 7 hits. Christian Yelich brought home Milwaukee’s final run with a fielder’s choice groundout in the 8th. Phillies starter Aaron Nola kept the top of the order quiet while earning the win, working seven and a third innings, giving up the two runs on five hits. The top five in the Brewer order went 0 for 20 against Philly pitching. Craig Kimbrel notched the save. The Brewers drop to 52-43 but remain two and a half games in front of the reeling Reds who lost a 6th straight game, 11-10 to the San Francisco Giants. Colin Rea will face Christopher Sanchez in game two Wednesday night. Pre-game coverage begins at 5:05 PM with a 5:40 PM first pitch on WTAQ.
