UPDATE 7/5/2023 — The victim in the traffic fatality has been identified as 19-year-old female, Aubrey Williams, from Oconto, WI.
(WTAQ-WLUK) — A 19-year-old woman is dead after being thrown off a motorcycle in a crash with an SUV in Oconto County.
Investigators say the crash happened on I-41, south of County Highway W in the Town of Little River on Friday, just after 7 p.m.
The woman was a passenger on the motorcycle, being driven by a 21-year-old Oconto man, according to the sheriff’s department.
Authorities say the motorcycle was traveling north on I-41 when the vehicles made contact just as the motorcycle was changing lanes.
A 23-year-old male from Volo, IL was driving the SUV, which was also traveling north on the highway, according to the sheriff’s department.
Life saving measures were taken at the scene of the crash. Investigators say the female later died at the hospital as a result of injuries from the crash.
A press release from the sheriff’s department did not say whether the driver of the motorcycle suffered any injuries.
An ongoing investigation is currently being conducted by the Oconto County Sheriff’s Office, Wisconsin State Patrol and the Brown County Medical Examiner’s Office.
