The Milwaukee Bucks entered the NBA draft with one pick and came away with two Thursday night. The NBA draft was conducted at the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn where to no one’s surprise,, the San Antonio Spurs with the number one overall choice selected 7 foot 5 forward Victor Wembanyama from France. The Charlotte Hornets took Alabama guard Brandon Miller number two and G-League sensation Scoot Henderson was taken third by Portland.
Bucks General Manager Jon Horst made a trade with the Orlando Magic to move into the 36th overall spot in the second round to take 6-6 guard Andre Jackson Jr. from the University of Connecticut. He helped the Huskies with the NCAA Championship last season. He started 28 games last year, 81 in his three year career with U-Conn. He was considered one of the top defensive players in the country last year but scouts believe his offensive game will need some work. With the final pick of the draft, number 58 overall, the Bucks took 6-6 forward Chris Livingston from the University of Kentucky. A McDonald’s All American in High School, Livingston was one and done with the Wildcats last season after being named to All-Freshman Team in the Southeast Conference.
The Bucks will bring another familiar name to camp as the Athletic reported Gonzaga forward Drew Timme, who went undrafted, agreed to an Exhibit 10 contract with the Bucks. That’s a one year, minimum salary deal that can be converted to a two-way contract anytime before he regular season.
Marquette star forward Olivier-Maxence Prosper was a first round pick Thursday night, taken 24th overall by the Dallas Mavericks.
