OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — You can now own a piece of Oshkosh Area School District history.
The district is giving away free keepsake bricks from the former Webster Stanley Elementary and Middle School.
The giveaway will take place in the parking lot of the Oshkosh School District Administration Office at 215 S Eagle Street from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28 and from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 29. Three bricks per person will be allowed, on a first come basis.
Webster Stanley Elementary and Middle School closed at the end of the 2022-2023 school year. It’s part of the district’s consolidation efforts in its long-range facilities plan. Demolition of the building began in early June 2023. Once demolition is complete, construction of the new Menominee Elementary School will begin on the site of the current Webster Stanley Elementary and Middle School, which will open in the fall of 2024. I t will become home to students currently enrolled at Merrill, Washington, and Webster Stanley Elementary schools.
Middle school students from Merrill and Webster Stanley will have previously moved to Vel Phillips Middle School which will open for the 2023-2024 school year.
