The Kaukauna softball team is two wins away from a three-peat. The Ghosts rolled past Waterford 6-0 in the Division 1 quarterfinals Thursday at Goodman Diamond in Madison. They move to the semifinals Friday after recording a 79th consecutive victory. Oshkosh West was knocked out by Sun Prairie East 5-0. Superior advanced with a 6-5 victory over Menomonee Falls and Oak Creek moved on by beating Arrowhead 7-1.
The Division 4 title game is set after Iola-Scandanavia upset top seeded Grantsburg 5-3. They will face Waterloo, a 6-5 winner over Stratford in the championship.
Three area teams take to the diamond on Friday. In Division 2, Freedom looks to defend it’s title by facing Turner in one semifinal while New London takes on New Berlin Eisenhower.
The Boys Team Tennis tournament will also crown champs this weekend in Madison. The Notre Dame Tritons open play in the Division 1 quarterfinals against Eau Claire Memorial while Neenah will take on Brookfield Central.
Girls soccer teams are a win away from next week’s state tournament in Milwaukee. Sectional semifinals were held Thursday night and in Division 1, Bay Port knocked out De Pere. After playing to a 4-4 tie through regulation and overtime, the Pirates advanced in a 4-3 shootout. Bay Port will meet Eau Claire Memorial for a trip to state. In Division 2, West De Pere advanced with a 2-0 victory over Pulaski. The Phantoms face Cedarburg on Saturday. Notre Dame is back in the sectional finals after rolling Xavier 5-0. The Tritons will face Plymouth, a 2-0 winner over Waupun. Kiel advanced to the D4 final with a 6-2 win over Sheboygan Lutheran/Christian. They will meet Lourdes Academy which defeated Elkhart Lake-Glenbulah 5-1.
