GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — Summer is coming; and with great fun comes great responsibility for keeping yourself and others safe.
Green Bay Police Chief, Chris Davis, says the most pressing issues over the summer months revolve around traffic and vehicles.
“Don’t drink and drive, put your cell phone down while you’re driving, watch your speed, stop for stop signs and red lights, and just be aware that there are a lot more folks out on foot and on bikes,” said Chief Davis.
Every year, there’s also a significant amount of calls in regards to pets or children left inside cars.
“That’s an emergency because it gets hot in there really quickly,” said Chief Davis.
Last year before the department was fully staffed, they were able to offer overtime to patrol officers to help with traffic safety. However, with the department now fully staffed they wont be able to do this as much, but they will still help traffic officers as much as possible.
