TOWN OF GREEN BAY (WLUK) — The Brown County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a two-vehicle crash on State Highway 57 Southbound at Bayshore Park Road in the Town of Green Bay. The crash happened around 12:30pm, Sunday, May 21, 2023.
Sheriff’s deputies along with the New Franken Fire Department and County Rescue were dispatched to the scene where they say a 2017 Ford Escape driven by a 76-yearold Green Bay area man was eastbound on Bayshore Park Road when it collided with a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze driven by a 20-year-old female from the Sturgeon Bay area.
Lt. Tom Zeigle indicates in a press release that both cars came to rest near the median of State Highway 57. The patrol report indicates the Chevrolet Cruze caught fire after it came to a stop. Both the driver and a 20-year-old female passenger were able to get out with additional injury.
The 76-year-old man and sole occupant of the Ford Escape was pronounced dead at the scene due to his injuries. His name is being withheld at this time pending family notification.
The sheriff’s office reports the female driver and female passenger of the Chevrolet Cruze were transported to a Green Bay area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash shut down southbound lanes of STH 57 until after 4pm while the scene was cleared and sheriff’s officials reconstructed the crash for their investigation.
