GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — After years of applications and research, the NFL Draft is coming to Green Bay.
The NFL announced Monday that the 2025 NFL Draft will take place in Green Bay and the city’s beloved Lambeau Field.
“The Packers have a rich and proud history that goes back to the early days of the NFL and are the only community-owned team,” said Packers President/CEO Marky Murphy. “That connection to our league’s heritage combined with the great passion Packers fans will bring will make the draft a memorable event for those in attendance and NFL fans watching around the world.”
The news comes after Green Bay officials ventured to Kansas City to take notes on the 2023 Draft last month.
“Today’s announcement is the result of years of hard work by our Draft committee,” said Murphy. “Their tireless efforts putting together a bid and a plan to host the Draft here, as well as the extraordinary support we’ve received from our community partners, has created this unprecedented opportunity to showcase our community. We couldn’t be more excited to host the 2025 NFL Draft.”
The 2023 NFL Draft brought in over 312,000 football fans Kansas City over the three-day event.
The Packers have said hosting the draft would likely bring in roughly 250,000 people. Wisconsin could expect to see an economic impact of $90 million — roughly six times as much as a typical game-day weekend. Green Bay alone is expected to see $50 million.
But hosting one of the NFL’s largest events does have its costs — with officials expecting the event to cost the city between $6 million and $7 million. The Green Bay Packers have already committed $1 million, and the Stadium District has pledged over $1 million as well.
Details of the 2025 Draft are still being finalized, but the main portion of the event is expected to take place in Lambeau and throughout Titletown. The Packers have said the “Draft Experience” will include a massive free football festival, allowing football fans to test their own skills, enjoy interactive exhibits and autograph sessions and take pictures with the treasured Vince Lombardi Trophy.
More information will be posted on the Packers website as the event approaches.
The NFL also announced on Monday that San Francisco would host Super Bowl LX in 2026.
