GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Jeremiah Robinson, now 17, was convicted for a murder at a west-side pharmacy last February.
Robinson, who was 15 at the time of the shooting, was charged in adult court with first-degree intentional homicide and other counts for the Feb. 18, 2022, shooting outside the Walgreens on the corner of Oneida and Mason streets.
In Wisconsin, those between 10 and 16 years of age and charged with certain homicide counts, including first-degree intentional homicide, are prosecuted in adult court. Robinson’s request to have the case moved to juvenile court was previously rejected.
Robinson pleaded no contest to second-degree reckless homicide, which is not normally a charge which would begin in adult court. But he agreed to waive his rights to keep the case in adult court. He was also convicted of possession of marijuana, and first-degree recklessly endangering safety.
Sentencing is scheduled for July 18.
Instead of facing a mandatory life prison term, if he were convicted of intentional homicide, the maximum sentence for second-degree reckless homicide is 30 years in prison.
Robinson got into a confrontation with the victim and another man over money during a drug deal. Robinson told police he shot the victim in self-defense after being threatened with brass knuckles. Police have not named the 31-year-old victim who was shot four times.
