OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — EAA’s museum store underwent its first major renovation in 40 years.
The aviation museum in Oshkosh held a ribbon cutting ceremony for its renovated gift shop.
The transformation of the Barnstormer Boutique took three months to complete.
It now features aviation and EAA merchandise for all ages inside a 1920s-style aerodrome hangar design, complete with airplane artifacts from EAA’s collection as an extension of the museum experience.
Officials say the Barnstormer Era is the perfect design for the shop.
“Barnstorming is a flying circus, it’s entertainment, it is out here in the Midwest and a lot of the Midwest had not seen aircraft or knew much about aircraft so these dare devil pilots coming out of the war found a natural fit to bring aviation to the farming community,” director of retail operations, Scott Powers, explained.
The store will be open during regular museum hours starting Saturday, May 20.
