HOWARD, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Healthy Kids Day returns to the Greater Green Bay East and West Side YMCA locations.
The event works to promote health through physical, nutritional, STEM education, and the arts.
“You can have fun and be active,” said Harrison Hagedorn, a Junior Ambassador at the West Side YMCA.
Marcia Sengstock, the Branch Director at the West Side YMCA says, it’s a way to bring the community together and promote healthy habits in kids and families alike, she adds: “You wanna start those habits when kids are young so that it’s something that they establish and continue on throughout their life. A lot of our families are active. They come into The Y, they exercise, so they wanna get their kids in and get their kids active, as well. So, It’s just our way of helping the community.
The West Side location offers an obstacle course, giant green blocks, family fitness classes, seed planting, a healthy snack, and so much more!
Healthy Kids Day is free for all community members and geared towards ages four through 12 years.
Sengstock says, continuing healthy habits from a young age is important: “As you get older, you wanna make sure that you’re maintaining, good weight, muscle, flexibility. All of those things.”
Attendees brought home new routines and fun educational activities for the entire family.
“It really just helps in overall health and wellness,” adds Sengstock.
The Greater Green Bay East and West Side YMCA locations plan to continue the Healthy Kids Day tradition in years to come.
