(WTAQ-WLUK) — Four people are suspected of pulling quick-change scams at stores in the Fox Valley.
The Wisconsin Department of Justice says the scams were reported at Festival Foods and Walmart stores in the Oshkosh, Neenah and Appleton areas on April 12 and 13.
A quick-change scam generally involves a person trying to pay for a low-price item with a large bill. Before the cashier can return change, the scammer will engage in a series of quick money exchanges in order to confuse the cashier and leave with more money.
Authorities released surveillance images of the people suspected to have been involved. They also released an image of a white Chrysler Pacifica minivan with a CarMax temporary license plate.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Dean Artus with the Oshkosh Police Department by email at dartus@ci.oshkosh.wi.us or by phone at (920) 236-5726.
