Another major golf champion will be crowned in Wisconsin this summer as the USGA presents the United States Senior Open at SentryWorld in Stevens Point June 27 through July 2.
The USGA announced this week popular state seniors Steve Stricker and Jerry Kelly has committed to play, entering the field as exempt players. Stricker won the US Senior Open in 2019 and finished runner up by a stroke to Padraig Harrington last year. Kelly is a two time runner up at the major for players over the age of 50. 156 on the world’s top seniors will be on hand for the event at the course, opened by Sentry Insurance in 1982 that has undergone it’s second major renovation in the last couple of years. The redesigned course finally opened for play last year and will offer an outstanding test for the veteran tour players. More than 50,000 spectators are expected for the event in central Wisconsin, hosting it’s third USGA championship. The addition of Stricker and Kelly is expected to boost ticket sales and there are still plenty available, priced at $25.00 to $50.00 at USSeniorOpen.com or SentryWorld.com.
