FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Speed and impairment appear to be factors in a Fond du Lac crash that injured two children.
Around 7:14 a.m. Wednesday, police were called to the area of E. Scott Street and Roosevelt Street for a report of a crash with injuries.
Officers discovered the driver, a 33-year-old North Fond du Lac woman, pinned inside her vehicle. Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue assisted with extricating her from the vehicle and she was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
This vehicle also had two passengers inside, ages 12 and 14, who were also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
While crews were on scene of this crash, another crash was reported at the intersection of Scott Street and North Main Street.
Investigators learned the two crashes were related.
Officials say the woman struck one vehicle in the area of Scott Street and North Main Street and continued east for about a half-mile and crashed into a parked pickup truck, pushing it into the path of another vehicle, causing a third crash in the area of E. Scott Street and Roosevelt Street.
Police did not indicate if any one else was hurt in the crashes.
The 33-year-old woman was assessed by a Fond du Lac Police Department Drug Recognition Expert officer and arrested.
The crash remains under investigation.
