WRIGHTSTOWN, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Sunday’s nice weather allowed people to get outside and enjoy the day.
Several area golf courses opened for the season on Sunday, and people took advantage.
“We saw that this was open so we decided to come out and it’s just a gorgeous day, just had the itch to golf so now we’re out here,” says Mary Veeser.
A round of golf fit in perfectly before their holiday plans.
“I’ve got dinner around 3:00 P.M. or 4:00 P.M., so I’m going after this but getting in as much golfing as I can before then,” says Sean Schreiber.
“Doing dinner and hanging out so yeah snuck this in before we’ve got to do the family stuff,” says Veeser.
Hilly Haven Golf Course in Wrightstown opened its full course Sunday.
Golfers say they wait all winter long for this day.
“Easter Sunday, it’s the perfect day to be out here, just happy to be here honestly, waited four or five months to get back out, and it was a long winter, but I’m happy to be back out here,” says Calvyn Danforth.
The Easter Bunny did not miss the Schubert Family’s house before they hit the green.
“It was exciting, it was fun, we both got new golf clubs,” says Rory Schubert.
Liam Schubert says they did pretty good for one of the first times back out on the course.
“We scrambled because it was our first time this year, we shot one over, and it was really nice out, it got a lot better over time,” says Liam Schubert.
Many say they have spent winter practicing their game on golf simulators.
“See if these simulators got my A game right, if not then it’s going to be a tough year,” says Schreiber.
“We did the simulator leagues here in fall and winter so now that the course is open we’ll be here once a week for sure,” says Veeser.
Golfers at Hilly Haven say they’re grateful for Sunday’s nice weather, and they hope the snow holds off until next winter.
“If it snows again, I’m moving,” says Veeser.
“No more snow for sure man,” says Schreiber
“I’m done with the snow,” says Liam Schubert.
