BAILEYS HARBOR, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Emeline Shipwreck in Baileys Harbor has made its way onto the State Register of Historic Places after 127 years beneath the waters of Door County.
The Emeline was used largely for carrying lumber throughout the Great Lakes.
But on a voyage in 1896, the ship got caught in a storm and sank near the Anclam Pier.
The Emeline’s remains lie in about 18 feet of water. The wooden schooner rests on the sand.
