APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) — The Appleton Police Department is weighing in on the project that would change Appleton’s College Avenue from four lanes to three.
The Appleton Municipal Services Committee unanimously approved the College Avenue Pilot Program Proposal earlier this month, which was created in collaboration with the Appleton Police Department. Appleton Police Chief, Polly Olson, says the project will increase safety in the downtown area.
“We have been receiving numerous complaints about some of the racing, the noise, and the driving behaviors in the downtown area.” said Chief Olson.
She noted these issues are so frequent that the Police Department is not often able to keep up. The project would assist in reducing these issues.
The proposal on this project is moving on to the full common council on April 5.
