OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The preliminary hearing for a man accused of killing his parents will be held April 10, not later this week, a court decided Monday.
Erik Metzig faces two counts of first-degree intentional homicide for the March 18 deaths of David and Jan Metzig.
The preliminary hearing had been set for Thursday, but was rescheduled as Metzig does not yet have an attorney.
Police were called to the home around 5:15 a.m., where the dead couple was discovered. Police found the bodies in the bedroom, covered in blankets, with apparent gunshot wounds to the head, the complaint states.
According to their obituary, David and Jan Metzig were third-generation owners of Union Star Cheese Factory near Fremont.
