GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — Green Bay’s Aspiro has had to adjust since a fire completely destroyed four of their busses and significantly damaged another last month. Now, things are starting to look up.
Aspiro works with people with disabilities. Their busses are used to transport clients to work and take them on community outings. Nicole Hoffman, Vice President of Development at Aspiro, says they’re vetting all types of replacement options, including new and used vehicles.
“To date we have two new busses; one with a wheelchair lift and one without ordered,” said Hoffman. “But we do not have a delivery date as of yet.”
Those busses are coming from Best Bus in Illinois. Aspiro is still looking at more options to complete the bus fleet, as they continue to receive transportation assistance from New Hope Center in Chilton and Oneida Transport.
A fifth bus damaged in the fire is currently being assessed to see if it is salvageable with repairs.
Aspiro has a Go Fund Me to help with cost of the new busses; they’re at about $120 thousand of their $500 thousand goal.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined; Aspiro says they’re expecting the fire marshal’s report at the end of the month.
