GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A man accused of stealing a van from an Illinois funeral home with a corpse inside, was arrested in Green Bay.
Green Bay police arrested 23-year-old Deon Howard on Sunday. He faces multiple charges, including unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle and abuse of a corpse.
Investigators say Howard stole a van belonging to Collins & Stone Funeral Home in Rockford, Ill. on Jan. 21 with the deceased body of a 47-year-old man in the cargo area.
Then on Jan. 22, Chicago police found the van with no body inside on the city’s southside. The man’s body was found the next day in a different location nearby.
Howard is expected to make an initial court appearance in Brown County court Monday.
