Yia Lor
APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Charges have been filed and an arrest warrant issued for Yia Lor for the Jan. 22 murder of Paul Rhoads.
Rhoads, 56, was found bleeding in the middle of the road on Briarcliff Drive. He later died at the hospital.
Lor, 37, was hospitalized after fleeing a traffic stop in Sheboygan a few weeks after the shooting. Police had identified him as a person of interest in the case.
Appleton Police Chief, Polly Olson shares why he isn’t yet in custody at the Outagamie County Jail.
“Because of some of his medical conditions that he continues to deal with; that’s what’s preventing his transfer into the Outagamie county jail.” said Olson. “They’re unable to house him at that location.”
Lor was hospitalized after fleeing a traffic stop in Sheboygan a few weeks after the shooting. He is currently within the Department of Corrections on a probation violation on a previous charge.
A judge has set a $2 million cash bond in the case, court records show.
According to the criminal complaint, a witness told police Rhoads had set up a drug deal, and Lor arrived in Appleton, and “Yia shot (Rhoads) shortly thereafter.”
