(WNFL) – At the WIAA state hockey tournament, the Bay Area Ice Bears defeated Middleton 4-1 to advance to Saturday’s girls state championship. The Ice Bears took a 1-0 lead in the first period and never trailed. They’ll play Superior/Northwestern at 12:10 at the Bob Suter Capitol Ice Arena in Madison.
In the boys tournament, 26-0-0 Notre Dame takes on University School of Milwaukee in a semifinal match this morning at 10. The other semifinal has Verona playing Hudson. Semifinal winners will meet for the state title at 2:30 Saturday afternoon.
In the WIAA girls basketball tournament sectional semifinals were played last night. Winners last night included Kimberly, Neenah and Hortonville in Division 1, Notre Dame in Division 2, Freedom in Division 3, Mishicot and St. Mary Catholic in Division 4 and Wabeno/Laona in Division 5.
