ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — It only seems right that Wisconsin is so well represented in the finalists for a national cheese championship.
The U.S. Championship Cheese Contest revealed its 20 finalists; nearly half of the finalists are cheesemakers from Wisconsin.
Out of 2,249 entries, the following Wisconsin cheeses remain in the running to be crowned champion:
- Associated Milk Producers’ Cheddar from Blair
- Lactalis Heritage Dairy’s Cracker Barrel Aged Reserve Cheddar from Weyauwega
- Roelli Cheese’s Roelli Haus Select Cheddar from Shullsburg
- Schuman Cheese’s Organic Copper Kettle Permesan from Turtle Lake
- Associated Milk Producers’ Ghost PepperJack from Jim Falls
- Lake Country Dairy’s Cello Fontal from Turtle Lake
- Red Barn Family Farms’ Vintage Cupola American Original Cheese from Egg Harbor
- Landmark Creamery’s Sweet Annie from Belleville
- Kingston Creamery’s Breezy Blue from Cambria
The champion will be revealed online at 2 p.m. Thursday.
