BROWN COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Construction for a $1.56 million fencing project along Highway 29 will begin later this month.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation announced Thursday that Gov. Tony Evers signed the contract to add fencing to 8.25 miles of the highway — between Highway 156 and Interstate 41.
The project includes adding right-of-way fencing and a shrubbery snow fence along parts of the highway.
The shrubbery — located just inside the right-of-way fence along the western end of the project on the south side of the highway — will be roughly 3,000 feet long and 10 feet wide. The plants are intended to mitigate blowing and drifting, hopefully reducing snow removal maintenance cost.
The highway will remain open throughout construction, but there may be lane and shoulder closures during the project.
With construction starting Feb. 27, DOT plans finishing the project by fall.
