FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Marian University in Fond du Lac is mourning with the city of Milwaukee, after the fatal shooting of Milwaukee Police Officer Peter Jerving earlier this week.
Jerving, 37, was working towards a Bachelor of Science in Marian’s criminal justice program.
Marian President Michelle Majewski released a statement Thursday:
The life of an officer expresses everything we are or would like to be in the service of others. Officer Peter Jerving was such a life — an energetic and compassionate individual who laid down his life for others. Here at Marian University, we were blessed with his presence in our Criminal Justice Program and we grieve with his family for his loss. We will never forget him. Our prayers are with the Jerving family and all the First Responders.
Jerving died Tuesday after a chase and struggle with a robbery suspect. The 19-year-old suspect, Terrell Thompson, died on the scene.
Jerving’s funeral will be held Monday in Brookfield.
