OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Local business leaders in Oshkosh have said they’re optimistic for 2023.
The Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce released the results of its annual survey on Wednesday.
Locally, things seem to be looking strong, with 87% of respondents saying Oshkosh is a great place to start a business. And 88% rated their company’s outlook in the next 12 months as good to excellent.
However, only 42% indicated that the state is headed in the right direction.
Business owners said the labor shortage, supply chain issues, and inflation remain challenging.
The Chamber’s president said there’s a reason for a strong outlook, though.
“We’re a very diverse, growing economy and those feed off of each other, so I think that’s creating a demand for labor,” said Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce President/CEO Rob Kleman.
More than $100 million of new development is anticipated for 2023 in the city. That includes Oshkosh Avenue, where new hotels, restaurants and office space have been established recently.
