BELLEVUE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A Northeast Wisconsin medical company is sending vital supplies to those affected by the Russia-Ukraine War.
It has been nearly a year since the conflict started between the two countries, and help is still desperately needed.
The Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Specialists from the Orthopedic Surgery Centers of Green Bay and the Fox Valley donated five types of large-item medical supplies on Monday.
Darin Schumacher, the marketing manager at OSMS explains that when the organization updates its systems, the used equipment is donated to people in need, giving it a new life.
“Somewhere like the Ukraine or overseas is a perfect place that will absolutely use these supplies.”
Items include four Stryker stretchers, shoulder positioners, IV needles, computer monitors and blankets.
“We also recognize there’s a bigger world than just us. So, if these items can be used, and can be used for a good effort, for a good reason, we’re more than happy to be able to do so,” Schumacher added.
Volunteers from the Ukraine Medical Association of North America brought the items to Chicago on Monday.
“A lot of hospitals have been destroyed and bombed,” said Oksana Kobzar, a Wisconsin Ukrainians Board Member.
UMANA will fly the supplies directly to Ukraine to help medical professionals tend to those affected by the ongoing violence.
“They appreciate any coverage, any help that they receive because they know that they are not in the war alone, that they receive help and that the world knows,” added Kobzar.
This is not the first time OSMS has aided in the support efforts.
An electrocardiogram machine, a refrigerated medical cabinet, anchors, sutures, surgical drapes, gloves and arterial line kits are among previous donations made by the organization.
