FOX VALLEY, WI (WTAQ) — Fox Valley Technical College (FVTC) is creating a partnership with UW-Oshkosh and UW-Green Bay for new collegiate transfer program from students earning an Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) at FVTC. FVTC officially started offering the AA and AS degree programs this week with the start of the spring semester.
Each associate degree offered by FVTC consists of 60 credits, including 39 to 41 credits of general education and 19 to 21 credits of electives. The programs are financial aid eligible and meet the requirements for general education courses at UWO and UWGB.
The program creates affordable options for students to complete their first two years of general education classes, earn an Associate of Arts or an Associate of Science degree at FVTC, and be in a position to transfer all credits to either four-year university and pursue a bachelor’s degree with junior standing. However, Dr. Jennifer Lanter, Vice President of Learning & Chief Academic Officer from FVTC, says this is also helpful to high school students.
“This is a very seamless way to take our duel-credit classes at no cost in the high school, to then transfer those here,” said Lanter. “It would be even less out-of-pocket cost that would get you into that four-year degree.”
The transfer program initially came to fruition after a study showed that 7% of students at FVTC transfer to a 4 year institution, and the school wanted to set up a degree program for those students that would also assist them financially.
Thirty-five students at FVTC have enrolled in the transfer program; which opened in mid-December.
Individuals interested in learning more about this opportunity at FVTC are encouraged to connect with an admissions specialist at www.fvtc.edu/admissions.
