TOWN OF POUND, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A 36-year-old Coleman man is dead after crashing his car Saturday morning in Marinette County.
The sheriff says that dispatch received a call at 7:18 a.m. reporting a car on its side and smoldering along County Highway B at 9th Road.
Marinette County’s investigation determined that 36-year-old Nereo Martinez Rios crashed his vehicle into a ditch before going airborne and striking several trees. Investigators say Rios was not wearing a seatbelt and ejected from the vehicle during the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The sheriff says that alcohol and speed appear to be factors in the crash.
This is the first traffic fatality in Marinette County this year.
