MARINETTE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Marinette County District attorneys office says no charges will be filed in a Marinette fatal shooting.
Marinette police responded to a report of a shooting on Thursday, December 1 at the Trolley Station apartments in the 1500 block of Main Street.
Upon arrival officers found Edwina Anderson in the hallway of the apartment building with gunshot wounds and a bloody knife in her hands.
Police and medical personnel began life saving measures and Anderson was transported to a local hospital where she later died from her injuries.
Officers arrested a suspect after he called 911 stating that he had been stabbed and he thought he had shot someone.
He was taken to the hospital and later to jail while the investigation continued.
The Marinette Police Department, Marinette Sheriff’s Office, Wisconsin State Crime Laboratory Crime Scene Response Unit, Oconto County Sheriff’s Office, and the Marinette County District Attorney’s Office along with the Wisconsin Department of Justice all investigated this incident.
The Marinette County District Attorney’s office says through the investigation, including crime scene processing, evidence collection, witness interviews, audio recordings, autopsy results and interviews with parties involved it has been determined that the shooting was justified under Wisconsin state law and no charges will be filed at this time.
