WAUKESHA, WI (WSAU) — The Judge who became a household name during the trial of Darrell Brooks Jr. is expected to announce her entry into the State Supreme Court race this spring.
Multiple reports indicate Jennifer Dorrow will announce her intention to enter the race during a press conference at 12:30 PM Wednesday. She would be the fourth candidate in the race.
Dorrow was noted for her handling of outbursts from Brooks, who represented himself while facing six counts of first-degree intentional homicide for driving his SUV into the Waukesha Chrismas Parade route in 2021.
Brooks was often disruptive and ignored instructions from Dorrow. During the trial, he spent a significant amount of time watching the proceedings from a video link in an adjoining courtroom. He was ultimately found guilty of all counts against him, and sentenced to life without parole by Dorrow.
If she enters Dorrow would join former State Supreme Court Justice Daniel Kelly, who lost a bid for re-election in 2020. Dane County Judge Everett Mitchell and Milwaukee County Judge Janet Protasiewicz have also declared their candidacy.
Should all four candidates make the ballot a primary would be required on February 21st, 2023. The top two vote-getters would then advance to the April 4th, 2023 Spring Election.
