GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A decision has been delayed on if a teen charged in a pharmacy parking lot murder will remain in adult court or be moved to juvenile court.
Jeremiah Robinson, then 15, allegedly shot and killed a 31-year-old man Feb. 18 outside the Walgreens store on the corner of Oneida and Mason streets.
In Wisconsin, those between 10 and 16 years and charged with homicide are prosecuted in adult court. But attorneys can petition for what’s called a “reverse waiver hearing,” in the attempt to have the case moved to juvenile court. Such requests are reviewed by a judge and are not automatically granted.
The hearing was scheduled for Monday but key prosecution witness from the state Dept. Of Corrections was unavailable. The hearing was reset for Dec. 3.
According to the criminal complaint, Robinson, now 16, and another man, Jeromy Finke, got into a confrontation with the victim and another man over money during a drug deal. Robinson told police the dispute carried over to the outside of the store, and he shot the victim in self-defense after being threatened with brass knuckles.
The criminal complaint says the victim, identified only by his initials, was shot four times.
Robinson is being held on a $1 million cash bond.
