GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Next time you’re stopped waiting in traffic because of a ship or train, you might find yourself thinking, “Ship happens.”
That’s because the Shipyard District, Inc. unveiled its new mural, “Ship Happens,” Tuesday night.
The public artwork serves to celebrate the area’s industrial presence while also playing on the frequent traffic interruptions along the Fox River and railroads throughout the district.
It took roughly one month for Door County muralist Ram Rojas to paint the mural.
Ship Happens can be seen along South Broadway on the south wall of RumRunners, just over the bar’s beer garden.
“Considering the significant contributions to this immediate area by the shipping and railroad industries, the subjects of Rojas’ creation are a no-brainer,” said Jeffrey Hunter, owner of RumRunners. “We’re proud to be the inaugural site for a new series of murals throughout the Shipyard District.”
Ship Happens is the first mural to be put up since the formation of the Green Bay business district.
