ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The 76th Great Lakes Logging and Heavy Equipment Expo is returning to Ashwaubenon for the first time since 2010.
This will be the biggest event the new Resch Expo has ever held and 4 thousand people are expected to attend.
Discover Green Bay President/CEO Brad Toll says the economic impact of this event will be great for the community.
“Of those 4,000 people, they’ll be staying overnight in our hotels, they’ll be eating in our restaurants, buying gas from our gas stations,” says Toll. “We expect that impact will be more than $3 million over the next few days.”
This event has not been in the Green Bay area for the past 12 years.
Great Lakes Timber Professionals Association Executive Director Henry Schienebeck says they were able to return because of the new Resch Expo.
“We used to take up the entire parking lot on the other side of the street, plus Shopko hall, plus the dome that was here. When they started building further and further into the parking lot — we just ran out of room.”
Aside from being back in Ashwaubenon, there are many other exciting things planned for this year’s event.
“There’s definitely different technologies here, especially when it comes to getting the forest ready for replanting,” says Schienebeck. “We have some different vendors coming from around the country with different products.”
The Great Lakes Timber Professionals Association is happy to be back.
“This is kind of called the loggers’ holiday from our perspective because it really celebrates what we do in the forest and all the products that come back to the community and how we do that sustainable management,” says Schienebeck.
The expo runs from Thursday through Saturday and will close down certain streets in the area.
