LITTLE CHUTE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The Little Chute Area School District is unveiling its new multi-purpose turf stadium.
The public will first be able to experience the $1.2 million Unison Credit Union Stadium this week.
The community is invited to walk on Fitzpatrick Field following the Mustangs’ boys varsity soccer game on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. and varsity football game at 7 p.m. on Friday.
The artificial turf is intended to provide a safe, comfortable and modern space for classroom activities and for athletic events.
Soccer practices and games, which have previously been held at local parks, will be moved to the new field. It will also be used for football, marching band, physical education classes as well as youth programs and other groups.
“Our goal is to give all students the opportunity use this new field,” said district Activities Director Kelly Wallace.
The $1.2 million project was primarily funded by donations, but did receive $200,000 in seed money from the district budget.
The fundraising committee that spearheaded the project is still accepting donations for the second phase of the project. This phase will include a stadium-style visitors bleacher section, which would add about 500 seats to the stadium.
