GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — Green Bay Police have released the names of two men believed to be responsible for the April murder of a man on Green Bay’s West Side.
Alejandro and Gustavo Cantu are said to be aware that police are searching for them.
“The case has shown that they definitely have involvement in the murder,” said Green Bay Police Captain Gary Richgels. “We’re not going to stop until they’re apprehended and get their day in court.”
Police say they shot and killed 34-year-old Randall Denny of Hobart in the early morning hours of April 30th at the intersection of Western Avenue and Perkins Avenue.
What exactly happened that day, Richgels wouldn’t confirm.
“We definitely have some good information as to that, but because of the fact that they are still on the run, they haven’t had a chance to tell us their side of the story. So that’s something that we wouldn’t release at this point,” Richgels said. “Not that anyone will completely understand or know why it rose to this level, it will help fill in some pieces that are unknown to the general public at this point.”
According to the complaint, police were called to the scene for reports of multiple gun shots. One witness told police Gustavo Cantu was the shooter.
A witness told police the victim may have stolen a pound of meth from the Cantus.
The victim was shot in the head, according to the autopsy report.
Another man, Jacob Ventura, has already been arrested and charged. Police say they’ll be looking into whether or not anyone is aiding the two men.
“We also wanted to make sure that we put in there about the aiding and abetting, because we believe they had assistance in leaving the area as well as continuing to move around, making it more difficult to locate them,” Richgels told WTAQ News. “They have connections, friends, relatives, in multiple states. So much so, that I hesitate to even say [where they could be].”
However, Green Bay Police are working in coordination with other agencies including some in Central Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
“We’re getting a bunch of information, not just today, about whether they are or not in the Green Bay area. We don’t know at this point, but we’ll continue to follow leads,” Richgels said. “A number of people have come forward and said, “Oh I saw them here, they’re driving this.” We follow up the best we can, and every now and again we get lucky when somebody’s surveillance system caught them leaving this vehicle a week ago. Now we’re a week behind, but that’s something for us to follow up on…I would ask that if anyone knows their whereabouts or sees them, that they don’t approach, and that they just call 911 and let the police take it from there.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Green Bay police at (920) 448-3208 and refer to report 22-221174. Anonymous tips may also be left with Crime Stoppers by phone at (920) 432-7867, online or through the P3 smartphone app.
