The Milwaukee Brewers are right back where they started in their four game series with the St. Louis Cardinals. The Brewers salvaged the final game of the set 6-4 Thursday afternoon at American Family Field to split with St. Louis and pull back even with the Cards atop the NL Central race with the same 40-32 records.
Jason Alexander, making his fifth start of the year, gave up two runs in the first but made it into the 6th, allowing four runs on 6 hits. The Brewers got a big, three run homer from Tyrone Taylor in the 4th to grab a 4-2 lead. Willy Adames launched his 15th of the season, a solo shot in the 5th. A Jace Peterson sacrifice fly scored Andrew McCutcheon with a key insurance run in the 8th. The Brewer pen of Brad Boxberger, Devin Williams and Josh Hader finished it off, Hader earning his 21st save in 22 chances.
The homestand continues with the Toronto Blue Jays coming in for a weekend, interleague series. Adrian Houser will start the opener for the Brewers against Alek Manoah of the Jays. Pre-game coverage begins at 6:35 PM with a 7:10 PM first pitch on WTAQ.
