HOWARD, WI (WTAQ) — The first primetime debate of the 2022 Wisconsin Governor’s Race will be held next week in the Green Bay area.
The Republican primary debate will be held at Providence Academy, a private Christian school, in Howard.
“We’d love to see our students see a debate about the welfare of our state,” said Headmaster Ron Jung. “We have a new facility out on Shawano avenue and we would like our facility to be used for the betterment of our community.”
So far every candidate, with the exception of construction magnate Tim Michels, backed by former President Donald Trump, has confirmed they’ll be attending.
“[Michels]’ campaign just hasn’t committed to it,” said Jung.
That leaves former Lt. Governor Rebecca Kleefisch, Marine Veteran Kevin Nicholson, and District 59 Assemblyman Tim Ramthun as confirmed participants. Michels will be provided a podium at the event regardless of whether or not he attends.
The two-hour debate will be held at 7:00 pm on Monday, June 27th. It will be broadcast live on WTAQ.
